Airplanes can be hit by lighting, but a single strike won't spell disaster when you have a functioning lightning strike defense system in place. These systems typically use antennas and electrically conductive materials that help dissipate charges and neutralize them. PPG Aerospace® P/S 872 B-1/2 Lightning Strike Sealant from SkyGeek is an important part of any lightning protection system and is electrically conductive, so it won't interfere with the normal function of the protective equipment. The sealant has a service temperature range from -67° (-55°C) to 250°F (121°C), so it can be applied in any conditions.
PPG Aerospace® P/S 872 B-1/2 Lightning Strike Sealant is designed for highly torqued fay surfaces and certain other aircraft applications. The material also acts as a barrier against corrosion and once cured, it is resistant to intermittent exposure to jet fuel and aviation gas. The two-part compound is designed to be mixed just before use and once blended, it begins to slowly cure. PPG Aerospace® P/S 872 B-1/2 Lightning Strike Sealant is low sag and can be applied using an extrusion gun or spatula to suit your needs. The lightning strike sealant cures at room temperature and is incredibly resilient.
