RC-21 is a semi-permanent silicone release coating designed for use on waffle and pancake griddles. It provides a thin, hard release coating that will yield many care free releases. When fully cured, this product contains ingredients which conform to FDA requirements of the provision 21 CFR 175.300, “Resinous and Polymeric Coatings". The FDA provision contains limitations and full compliance is the responsibility of the end user. Griddles should first be cleaned with a water based carbon cleaner. Then, the old silicone release coating should be removed with Amtex-CCR. *Allow griddles to dry before placing in Amtex-CCR, as water greatly reduces the effectiveness of Amtex-CCR. Soak in Amtex-CCR for 30-60 minutes. Amtex-CCR is very powerful, do not leave griddles in cleaning solution any longer than required for coating removal. Following cleaning, the griddles should be very well rinsed with water and allowed to dry completely. Apply RC-21 by spraying, dipping or brushing. For best results, the temperature of the RC-21 and the griddle surface should be the same and between 60-80 degrees F. Allow the griddles to air dry before placing into oven. The solvents in RC-21 are flammable so it is important that the coating be allowed to fully air dry before the griddles are placed into the curing oven. Cure the coating for 30 minutes at 400 F. The griddles should be allowed to cool to room temperature after curing. The coating life will depend on the use conditions. Some oils used in baking applications, along with high moisture or sugar content of the baked goods, can cause silicone coatings to degrade more rapidly. Do not bake at a temperature over 500 degrees F as this can degrade the coating. Once the griddles begin sticking, clean with Amtex-CCR as described above and reapply a fresh coating of RC-21.
