Teledyne Gill Aircraft Battery

Under the stewardship of Mr. Lawrence Gill in the early 1920s the Teledyne Battery Products we know today had a modest beginning. Gill has been producing first rate batteries since inception primarily for the aircraft industry. In the 1960s, Gill Electric was sold to Teledyne, and acquired the new name of Teledyne Battery Products.

Gill has introduced most of the innovations in the industry. It was a Gill battery that met stringent weight requirements and powered the Voyager’s electrical systems and avionics on its record-breaking non-stop around-the-world flight.

Gill introduced innovations such as 24- volt batteries for light aircraft as well as low impedance, high power batteries for turbine engines.

Gill is chosen as original equipment by most airframe manufacturers and is the popular choice for replacement because of the demonstrated ability of building reliable batteries with predictable characteristics to narrow specifications. There are many design innovations which contribute to the value of a Gill aircraft battery, such as:

  • Through-the-partition intercell welding
  • Enveloped plates
  • Improved case-cover seal
  • Heavy-duty internal post
  • Redesigned cell construction to provide better power delivery and charge acceptance

Whether cranking a piston engine, spooling a demanding jet turbine, or high-output applications in business jets, turboprops and helicopters, Teledyne Battery Products has the right power source for the job!
