This specialty epoxy polyamide primer coating possesses both outstanding 60% flexibility and corrosion inhibitive resistance, making it ideal for use on Chromate Conversion treated or CM0484684 Wash Primed aluminum. This kit includes 1 Part CM0724400 Primer Component and 1 Part CM0724114 Primer Adduct.
Surface Preparation
The surface should be dry and free of mill scale, oil, grease, dust, and rust. Aluminum Alclad / Anodized surfaces should be properly pretreated, and Chromate Acid Conversion coating or Wash prime treated. Steel surfaces should be processed with a phosphate coating treatment.

Mixing Instructions
Pre-shake the Primer Component 10-15 minutes.

Admix by Volume:

    1 Part CM0724400 Primer Component

    1 Part CM0724114 Primer Adduct

Add the Primer Adduct into the Primer Component.

Stir well during a 30-minute induction time.

Reduce to spraying viscosity using CM0702901 Fast Thinner or CM0110588 Slow Thinner. The two thinners can also be blended to meet your in-shop conditions or application preferences. Reduce approximately 25% by volume to 17 Seconds using a #2 Zahn / 45-65 ISO 2431.

It is recommended to filter strain admixed and reduced corrosion primer before placing in containers for spraying.

Application
Always air blow and tack cloth wipe the surfaces to be prime coated.

May be applied by Conventional, Electrostatic, or Airless. Recommended pot pressure: 8-10 lbs. / 8-10 fl./oz. per minute. 60’ X 3/8” fluid hose. Spray Atomization 50-60 psi.

Apply in a continuous cross-coat to a dry film thickness of .6-.9 mils DFT (15.2-22.8 mm).

Cure
Air Dry at 77°F / 50% RH. May Force Dry @ 120-140°F.

Equipment Cleanup
Use Ketone type solvents, CM0110588 or CM0702901 epoxy primer thinners.

Shelf Life
Shelf Life is applicable only for material stored in unopened and undamaged original factory filled containers.

CM0724000: 1 year
CM0724114: 1 year

Minimum Storage Temp. 40°F / 4°C
Maximum Storage Temp. 90°F / 32°C

Our Aerospace primers have been developed to be compatible with the Jet Glo®/Acry Glo®/Accent™ polyurethane paints. Use of products not manufactured by Sherwin-Williams Aerospace as replacement primer materials is not recommended. Paint failures, blistering, chemical resistance, inter-coat adhesion failure and paint gloss life issues may occur. For long-term integrity of the completed paint finish, use the complete Sherwin-Williams Aerospace finishing system.

Health & Safety Information
Wear an approved and fit-checked respirator, and allow for sufficient booth airflow movement. Consult the Material Safety Data Sheets for product information regarding health, physical and environmental hazards, handling precautions and “First Responder” first aid recommendations.
