Fly boys from all over the world come to SkyGeek.com to get their pilot supplies, including the Sennheiser HMEC 460 Headset (with noise cancellation features). The Sennheiser HMEC 460 is a stylish headset that is jam-packed with features. This high-quality headset is popular with serious pilots and is ideal for use in turbo prop and propeller aircraft. The "HMEC" before the name of the Sennheiser 460 tells you that this headset is equipped with NoiseGard active noise cancellation, a special technology from Sennheiser. The audio quality is amazing. It has a comfort fit—the headphones and headband both have extra padding and reduced contact pressure. Additionally, this HMEC 460 noise cancelling headset has an audio and cell-phone in feature, as well as switches for NoiseGard, mono vs. stereo and volume controls. You can switch the microphone from left to right with ease. Just pop 2 AA batteries in your Sennheiser 460 or connect it to your aircraft (XLR-3 connector). It has PJ055 and PJ068 connectors. Better than Bose XBy James Nadoff on February 19, 2010 The 460s are the best headset I have ever used, hands down. Prior to the 460s I used a Bose X headset for about 4 years - unfortunately, the ANR stopped working about 2 months ago, and, as a passive headset, a Bose X is useless. Another pilot I know had a HMEC400 headset (an earlier version of these) that he lent me. I used the 400 headset for about a week before I was sold, and I ordered the 460s, which I have been using since. The first thing you notice is how much better the Sennheiser sets are put together than the flimsy Bose X. On top of that, the 460s are as comfortable as the Bose headset, and can accomodate my big ears much better. The passive noise reduction is on par with David Clark sets without the side pressure, and the active noise reduction really takes the edge off the prop noise.
My only complaints about the 460s are the battery life when using ANR - I get less than 20 hours, while the Bose X used to give twice that, and I do not seem to get stereo sound when using my iphone via the music player or cell phone interface. Nonetheless, with these on the market, I have no idea why anyone would buy a Bose X. Sennheiser HMEC 460 Headset - 50078 Your question might already be answered below, wouldn't that be a time saver!
