The following are Whelen strobe system recommendations for Raytheon / Beech Aircraft. The basic model / part numbers are given. However, in some cases, the aircraft voltage and mounting location of the light are needed to specify the exact model / part number needed. Early Model Twin Engine through 1969The slanted wingtip requires custom fabricated brackets for mounting the strobe lights. The following is recommended:
Early Model Single Engine through 1966Excluding any modified wingtip, use position lights at the wingtip extremity. To convert to Whelen strobes, the following is recommended:
Single Engine 1967 through 1973Use position lights installed under clear fairings at the wingtips most forward position. Specify 14 or 28 VDC. To convert to Whelen strobes the following is recommended:
Single Engine 1974 and LaterUse a commonality wingtip, that enlarged the clear fairing by approximately six inches. Specify 14 or 28 VDC. To convert to Whelen strobes, the following is recommended:
Baron Rudder Mount Oscillation Beacon ReplaceThe mechanical oscillating beacon first appeared in 1970 on the then new E55, until 1982. All model 58’s used it from 1970 thru 2000. To convert the existing beacon to an LED flashing beacon:
Duke Oscillation Beacon ReplacementTo convert the existing beacon to an LED flashing beacon:
Converting Beacon to a Self-Contained LED Flashing BeaconTo convert the existing beacon to a self-contained LED flashing beacon:
Rotating Beacon ReplacementThe round mechanical rotating beacon was used on the vertical fin of all Barons from 1961 thru 1969. Models using this light are 95-55 (1961), A55 (1962-63), B55 (1964-82), C55 (1966-1967), D55 (1968-1969). Note: the B55 Baron continued to use this beacon until production stopped in 1982.
