Pointer 3001-12 Low Profile Whip ELT Antenna

Pointer, Inc. has developed a low profile whip antenna for ELT installations which provides 20DB rejection of commercial FM radio stations in the 88-108Mhz band. This will reduce the "FM interference" or "FM noise" problem encountered at airports located in the vicinity of commercial FM radio "antenna farms". The antenna is a vertically polarized monopole design with an impedance matching and narrow bandpass network in the mounting base. The antenna height is approximately 12 inches and is mounted at a 20 degree angle to the airstream. Mounting requires a single 1/2 inch "D" hole. The antenna is a 50 ohm impedance at both 121.5 and 243.0 Mhz and a coaxial cable of the required length may be used between the transmitter and antenna. The antenna may be used with any ELT designed for a 50 ohm system.

The primary application of the low profile design is for installations on propeller driven single and multi-engine aircraft. Because of the small outline dimension and rugged construction the antenna is also well suited for helicopter installations where mounting space is limited and the location may be subjected to rotor blade buffeting.
