It is ironic that one of the most common airplanes has so few kits, but maybe that's why you don't see a lot of Toyota Camry models!
I enjoy flying MS Flight Simulator and wanted a "real" Cessna 172. I was surprised how few GA kits are offered. Since Cessna's are the most popular aircraft around and the standard "trainer" for pilots, I thought kits of them would be more popular and plentiful. It seems even this one is discontinued. I guess most modelers have Walter Mitty fantasies and only want combat and Star Wars stuff. Admittedly, it is not the sexiest airplane, but I'm very happy with it.
The kit comes in white, so one coat of white and one clear coat, was all it took. Everything fit together very well, with minimal fiddling. The decals are beautiful, but I wish they included more letters and numbers so I could have customized the tail number with my address and initials. Gauge decals for the cockpit instruments would have been nice too. I ended up painting them in with a toothpick. Interior door panels are absent and the landing gear to fuselage connection is not mechanically sound. It is very fragile. Also, the model is tail-heavy, so rather than adding weight, which would stress the already weak landing gear, or adding a sprue support to the tail, that would look odd, I decided to hang my model from the ceiling, pitched down and slightly banked, as it lines up with the runway for landing! Pros:Great price, fast shipping, rare to find a Cessna kit.Cons:Could have had more cockpit and tail number decals, as well as interior door panels.
