Throughout the years of our own personal Flight Training, we found that most survival kits proved inadequate to say the least. While legal, we found them to be far from functional.
This kit was our personal answer. After years of research, Crashkit eventually built what we feel is one of the best kits available on the market today, the kit you see before you. ‘Crashkit Charlie’ contains 92 of the most essential items needed in a survival situation. When it comes to survival, it is a widely held notion that the more you know, the less you need to survive. This kit contains the basics; however, there is absolutely no substitute for proper survival training. To this end, we recommend you find a qualified outdoor wilderness survival course to suit your needs, based on the intended area of travel. While we endeavor to provide the essentials to survive, the simple step of taking a proper course would equip you with the knowledge that may mean the difference between life and death. They say an ounce of preparation is worth a pound of cure. This is especially true in a situation where you don’t realize you need training until your life depends on it. This kit is an important start, but the single most important tool you have is always carried with you.. Your brain. Use your head, think your way home. Analyze. Plan. Improvise.
The Basics
‘Crashkit Charlie’ was designed with the non-survivalist in mind. We have included the items we feel are of greatest value given space and weight restrictions. All included items have been chosen based on reliability, ease of use and necessity in a real world survival situation, while doing our best to keep the weight and size to a minimum. ‘Crashkit Charlie’ will provide survive support for approximately 3 days to persons with little or no training, several weeks with some training, and several years using advanced survivalist techniques. Every item included in this kit has been thoroughly tested and approved to insure it performs flawlessly when needed (we’ve even sharpened the knife!).
Case & Lights
This Crashkit is packaged using original Pelican brand lights and case. The case used is indestructible, crushproof and waterproof. All Pelican cases use a patented open cell with solid wall design making it strong and lightweight at the same time. Best of all, Pelican cases come complete with an automatic pressure release valve, ensuring ease of opening despite altitude variation. All Pelican items feature an unconditional ‘Lifetime Guarantee of Excellence’ covering 100% workmanship and reliability.
The 2130 is a hi-visibility LED strobe that can be seen over half a mile away. Just twist to turn on. It is powered by 2 L1154 1.2V alkaline coin cells that last over 130 hours before replacing. This flashing device is also submersible to 500 feet.
With long lamp life and extended battery time, the L1 is our light of choice. Submersible to 500 feet, the polycarbonate body is also resistant to chemicals and corrosion. The tail switch for constant on/momentary is convenient and easy to operate. Powered by 4 LR 44 Alkaline batteries, burn time is in excess of 130 hours of continuous use.
Repackaging
This Crashkit is packaged in such a way that repacking items may be next to impossible once disassembled. After months of research, trial and error we have managed to successfully fit an inordinate amount of essential items into this little box. Some of these items will need to be replaced before expiration however, and we offer a repackaging service to make this easy for you. Of course, you may also try repackaging this kit yourself using replacement items ordered from us online or elsewhere. An additional free service provided with all Crashkit purchases includes automatic e-mail notification before the expiry of applicable items, ensuring your kit is always up to date.
