This Aviall BS-2173 replacement ELT Battery pack is approved under FAA TSO C-91 with no A.D. notes applicable. Manufactured around an all Alkaline construction these batteries have a (2) two year useful life.

This battery is a direct replacement for the following ELT's:

  • Dorne & Margolin: ELT6
  • Dorne & Margolin: ELT8.1

    1. Remove 4 screws from the bottom plate (ELT6 & ELT8.1) or the end plate on the 14-1-1 and remove the plate.
    2. Disengage the battery connector and remove the expired battery pack by lifting (ELT6 & ELT8.1) or sliding (ELT14-1-1) the battery out.
    3. Insert the BS2173 battery into the battery compartment.
    4. Engage the connectors and carefully route them to clear the bottom plate and circuit board (ELT6 & ELT8.1) or install the connector spring clip on the ELT14-1-1.
    5. Reinstall the bottom plate (ELT6 & ELT8.1) or end plate (ELT14-1-1) with the 4 screws previously removed.
    6. Set the switch to "AUTO". The unit will transmit upon impact.
    7. Remove date label and install in logbook.
