The new Aeroshell 2F 5 liter jug is still the same Fluid 2F you've come to love, but bigger and sleeker! Aeroshell Fluid 2F is an aircraft fluid which prevents rust and corrosion in your aircraft engine, specifically internal combustion engines. Replace your oil with this fluid and let it cycle through your system thoroughly or spray the 2F fluid into the cylinders/other areas.

  • STEP ONE: Drain you regular oil and replace with AeroShell® Fluid 2F. (Changing the oil filter will improve the preservative process.)
  • STEP TWO: Run the engine up to circulate the product throughout the system. You can run the engine for about 15 minutes on the ground or fly the aircraft around the “patch” for 15 minutes. Either way, pilots should always watch the oil and engine temperatures to ensure against overheating.
  • STEP THREE: Now just put your aircraft up following your normal storage procedure.
  • STEP FOUR: AeroShell® Fluid 2F is a flyaway preservative oil. If you need to use your aircraft during the preservation period, just jump in it and fly. (But remember, this is a Grade 100 oil, so preheat accordingly.) In addition, Shell does not recommend that you fly an opposed engine more than 50 hours on AeroShell® Fluid 2F during the TBO cycle. We also don't recommend that you operate any large radial engine on AeroShell® Fluid 2F other than the 15-minute ground run-up conditioning period. The reason for this is AeroShell® Fluid 2F is formulated for maximum rust and corrosion protection and does not contain an ashless dispersant additive. Extensive flying on AeroShell® Fluid 2F will not harm the engine, but can decrease the engine cleanliness.
  • STEP FIVE: If the aircraft will be stored for an extended period, you can spray AeroShell® Fluid 2F into the cylinders and/or other areas. It's also a good idea to seal off intake and exhaust to reduce air flow in and out of open valves. Check your operator's manual for additional recommendations.
  • STEP SIX: When you're ready to use the plane, just change back to your normal aviation oil. We recommend that the owner hand rotate the propeller several revolutions and then drain the AeroShell® Fluid 2F and replace the filter. If the plane has been inactive for six months or more and has been in a humid climate, we recommend flushing the system with the correct grade of aviation oil prior to returning to normal service.

    AeroShell® Fluid 2F is normally used as a preservation grade engine oil for the internal preservation of engines or engine parts and accessories during moderate outdoor to long-term indoor storage periods. This oil can also be used as a “flyaway” oil for reciprocating engines; however, Shell does not recommend that you fly an opposed engine more than 50 hours during the TBO cycle. The engine to be preserved should be filled to normal capacity with AeroShell® Fluid 2F and then run at the idle until the engine reaches normal operating temperature (approximately 10 -15 minutes).
