The new E-04 Emergency Locator Transmitter has replaced the now discontinued ACK Tech E-01.
Made in the USA This is the complete install kit version, please see the "In the Box" tab for everything it includes. If you are replacing a previously installed E-01 and do not need the mounting tray, retaining straps, remote control, remote cable, and coax cable then you can use the retrofit kit version, click here. Note: It is required that every 406 ELT be registered by the aircraft owner after installation, re-registered every two years, and re-registered if there are any changes to information provided to NOAA in a previous registration, such as telephone numbers, aircraft registration number, change of owner, etc. Every 406 ELT is programmed at the factory with a unique identification code used by the Rescue Coordination Center to determine if an emergency has actually occurred. This identifier is called the 15-Hex ID. It is located on the front label of the ELT. This unique identifier is stored in a database maintained by NOAA. It can then be accessed to contact the owner in the event of an ELT activation. Registration is free, and can even be done via the Internet on the NOAA website at: www.sarsat.noaa.gov, or at www.beaconregistration.noaa.gov. This 406 Mhz ELT is programmed for USA Registered Aircraft. If your plane is registered in any country other than the United States we will need a 406 Mhz ELT Programming Data Sheet completed Click Here to Download

January 26th 2011Wow, I wondered when/if we would ever be able to say it....but we are fully approved! Today we received the official certificate. We are doing all of the final ordering this week, and we need to program the ELT's with our certification numbers we just received. The ELT's should be shipping by mid/late February. Thanks for your patience. January 20th 2011Let me just start by saying WOOHOO!! Today I opened my e-mail to receive this message... "Dear Greg and Michael, It looks like we will be certified shortly! Assuming all goes well from here and the certification is received in a timely manner, we should be shipping by the end of February. January 6th 2011I just spoke with the Principal Technical Officer at COSPAS on the phone regarding the latest final report they received in December. Besides a few timestamp errors that have already been corrected and resubmitted he said everything looks acceptable to him. He wants to consult his partner who gets back from vacation on Monday, and they should let us know by Tuesday if they plan to submit for approval. December 3rd 2010We received an e-mail today with the tracking number for the final submission from the military lab, on its way to COSPAS. The submission should arrive on Monday for COSPAS to review. If everything goes right, we hope to be shipping the E-04 out by the beginning of 2011. November 23rd 2010Our engineer returned home last Friday (11/19/2010) from the military lab. All re-testing was fully completed the following Monday. As predicted the E-04 again passed all tests. We are now waiting for what will be report #8 to be sent to COSPAS. This should happen around the 25th of this month. From there it's up to COSPAS to process the final approval. The E-04 has passed every test, and re-test, required. We cannot foresee them having any more issues. October 27th 2010We received word from COSPAS in early October, and they re-opened another issue... this time with the GPS output coding during the recent re-testing. All testing here at the factory looks normal. Upon further inspection, it appears there was some software load issues. COSPAS has now requested that the software be re-loaded, and the applicable tests be performed again. The military lab expects the testing to be completed by the end of next week. September 7th 2010After a bit of a delay from the military lab, and COSPAS the final report has been reviewed. It seems all the testing was acceptable, however they wanted several minor corrections to our submitted paperwork reflecting the new test results, and several corrections by the military lab as well. Those corrections were re-submitted nearly a week ago. We are again awaiting word from COSPAS. July 27th 2010We have returned from spending last week in Arizona, at the military lab to complete the final test. Judging from our equipment (set up parallel to theirs) everything looks well within the allotted limits. The military lab has also sent us thier preliminary test results, which also look acceptable. COSPAS is requesting the final test report revision/data from the military lab before submitting for approval. July 19th 2010It has been confirmed that the military lab has recieved the needed replacement equipment. We plan to leave for Arizona tomorrow 7/20/10 to assist them in completing the final test. July 12th 2010Our trip to Arizona has been temporarily cancelled. As we were about to depart on Sunday afternoon we recieved a phonecall from the military lab informing us that they are having equipment troubles. We are basically waiting on call for them to resolve the issue so we can complete the final test. April 14th 2010April 4th we received the 5th revision of the US ARMY lab test report again showing we passed all tests. It was received at COSPAS/SARSAT on April 6th. The reports finally look complete and correct this time. We spoke to the technical officer at COSPAS who said “We will get to it in due time.” We are awaiting a response from COSPAS. March 3rd 2010We have recieved Industry Canada approval, we are now fully certified for Canada. (copy of certificate below.) With the most recent report submitted by the U.S. Electronic Proving Grounds, we are down to one minor discrepancy in regards to current measurments. We have asked that COSPAS accept our data compiled for the FAA in lieu of relying on the U.S. Electronic Proving grounds again for testing. We are awaiting their response. February 19th 2010The U.S. Army Electronic Proving Grounds has submitted Revision 4 of the test report, once again showing we have passed all tests. COSPAS/SARSAT will be reviewing the report next week. February 2nd 2010We have just received word from the Army Lab that they will be submitting Revision 4 of the test report to COSPAS/SARSAT this week and again they say everything looks good. COSPAS will need a little time to review it. We are hoping to be able to ship within 30 days. E-04 Certification update January 28th 2010We have FAA TSO, Transport Canada TSO and ETSO approval. The US Army Lab has submitted the 3rd revised report showing we have passed all tests. COSPAS/SARSAT has found a problem with the way some of the tests were preformed, and have asked that a retest be done. The lab is done with the testing, and we are awaiting the report. As soon as the report is received by COSPAS they have indicated that they are ready to notify the member Countries that the certificate is being issued, and must wait for the member Countries to comment before issuing the certificate. (A process we understand to take about 30 days.) We have begun limited production, and when we receive the certificate we will begin shipping to our distributors. We DO NOT sell direct, only to our authorized distributors. We have a large number of backorders and will be ramping up production over the next 2-3 months to fill these backorders and fully meet the demand for the ELT.
